Local CEO Recognized in Who’s Who Edition

Stephen Hightower, president and chief executive officer of fuel distributor Hightowers Petroleum Co., has been named to the 2014 edition of Who's Who in Black Cincinnati.

This is the eighth edition of the publication which recognizes the professional achievements and contributions of African American business and community leaders in the Cincinnati Tristate region.

Middletown-based Hightowers Petroleum is one the largest privately held wholesale fuel distribution companies in the nation, according to the company. Locally, it also holds the distinction of being the Tristate's largest minority-owned business.

"To be included on this list and to be recognized alongside such prominent leaders is truly an honor and a privilege," said Hightower in a written statement. "As vanguards of our communities, we each - as individuals and collectively as a group - have a responsibility to 'pay it forward' as it were and create business opportunities for others, which in turn will support and advance the Tristate's economy, benefiting everyone."

Who's Who Publishing Co. held an official unveiling celebration for the eights edition of its Who's Who in Black Cincinnati publication on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at the Horseshoe Casino in Cincinnati.

In addition to running Hightowers Petroleum, Hightower also owns Hi-Mark Construction Group, which specializes in commercial building and waste-water treatment plant construction. He is the principal owner of HP Energy, which develops energy efficiency-related projects to help clients lower their energy costs.
