The Manager, Risk & Analysis (MPG) is responsible for the leadership of the MPG P&L and risk management team, to analyze the P&L’s or transactions that involve physical positions and/or derivatives, and to minimize risk exposure for Mansfield Power and Gas, LLC.
Responsibilities
Coaching and Mentoring
- Develop clear goals for staff each year that support company goals and objectives
- Develop a coaching strategy for staff to achieve or exceed goals and objectives
Regularly review performance with staff
Help staff focus on what is within their control to achieve success
Celebrate success
Quickly address performance issues in a constructive manner
Create positive accountability and follow-up to achieve goals
Create depth in staff skillsets by ensuring staff has all the needed training to succeed
Departmental Leadership
- Develop clear vision, goals, and objectives for the department that support company goals and objectives
Develop clear strategies to manage risk exposure for Mansfield Power and Gas within applicable policy limits
Create a people, process, technology and governance vision for MPG’s Risk Department and create a plan to execute on that vision
- Develop a clear strategy to keep team members focused on high performance throughout the year to achieve measurable and financial goals
Identify and manage potential risk exposure for the company
Develop Risk Management Policy for areas associated with price, operational and regulatory risk
Ensure that MPG’s books stay balanced based on the requirements given by the Risk Management Policy (e.g., NYMEX, Basis, Cash, Imbalance Energy and Inventory)
Develop and produce value at risk calculations and periodic stress tests
Ensure that transactions are reviewed and confirmed on a timely basis
Ensure that cash and forward P&Ls are completed daily and that proper explanations of changes in valuation are provided to Supply and to Executive Management
Provided “Roadmap” reconciliation of monthly P&L with the Accounting Department, providing support for accruals
Manage credit exposures with counterparties as well as credit support from Mansfield Energy
- Develop reporting structure from Energy Trading Risk Management system to support measurement and management of risk and P&L
- Assess the current ETRM system’s functionality against other systems and drive the selection and implementation of the proper system for MPG
- Implement a strategy to examine and improve key processes used every day
Work with other BT department to implement strategies to improve P&L performance
Ensure that risks are appropriately evaluated and priced to customers through communication with the Deal Desk and Supply
Ensure that hedge efficiency is maximized through daily evaluation of positions
Ensure that processes and procedures that are implemented to mitigate risk for MPG are followed and report any breaches of policy to the appropriate
management levels
- Provide a regular feedback strategy for the department to evaluate results and make improvements
- Provide feedback to the executive team as needed
Lead P&L review meetings with Leadership
Help CFO create and implement a successful hedging strategy
Prepare agenda and support for monthly Risk Oversight Meeting
Formal Education & Certification
Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Finance, Business Administration or related field preferred
Knowledge & Experience
Minimum of five years in a management capacity in a risk, pricing or supply capacity
Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices, and procedures required
